January 2023 results

To give you more context, our initial goal is to open 5 franchised retail locations under the brand NBK Naanerie, specializing in the sale of Cheese Naan. Our first retail location was inaugurated in Grenoble, the capital of the Isère department. We plan to achieve this plan within the next 2 and a half years.

Initially planned for the end of September 2022, our opening was delayed by 2 months due to issues in obtaining kitchen equipment. We finally started our activity at the end of November 2022.

This first report covers the period from November 23, 2022, to January 31, 2023, and presents the progress made during this period. Above, you can find a picture of our fully equipped kitchen. We are located at Foodlab, in the center-south of Grenoble.

We achieved a turnover of €65,200 including VAT during this period, distributed as follows:

  • €35,500 on Uber Eats
  • €24,500 on Deliveroo
  • €5,200 on our Click & Collect service.

Interesting facts about last 2 months

📌 "Click and collect", which we started late (around mid-December), is a huge success. In a month and a half, we have created a base of 188 customers whose contact details we have. It is very encouraging to see that customers come to pick up their orders directly, even in a closed kitchen format. We would like to point out that this is 100% thanks to the great communication work done by Maria, who manages our networks.

📌 The average order amount is very high compared to our expectations. It is currently €25.53, whereas our forecast was €20. If we manage to increase the volume, this promises good things.

📌 We have managed to hire a good employee who seems reliable. His trial period is ending in a few days, and we plan to keep him. The level of quality and cleanliness in the kitchen is maintained thanks to the hard work of Vadim, who does not count his hours... It is time for us to recruit more workers to relieve Vadim.

Points are watching for

⚠️ We are currently facing difficulties related to insufficient production capacity. We need more workers to manage more sustained communication and, consequently, larger volumes. This situation is partly due to the lack of financial resources we had at the beginning. We managed to overcome this shortage by providing a month of free work together (Vadim, his wife, and Antoine). However, we cannot continue to operate in this way. We will therefore recruit more workers to increase our production capacity. If we fail to increase our sales volumes, we will have to explore other options to achieve our goals.

⚠️ Product prices have increased, as we had already anticipated with NBK, but inflation is likely to be even higher than expected. Therefore, we will increase our prices to maintain our margins.

⚠️ Currently, we have to immediately use the money that arrives in our bank account because we have many expenses to make. Although this is normal at the beginning, we will ensure that this does not continue in the future. Here is a screenshot of the breakdown of our expenses.
